Strengthening social inclusion and economic empowerment of marginalized groups in Mitrovicë/a

AN EU FUNDED PROJECT MANAGED BY THE EUROPEAN UNION OFFICE IN KOSOVO

The overall objective of this EU-funded project was to enable marginalized and disadvantaged groups to contribute to economic development and environmental protection in Mitrovicë/a. 

This project documentary provides an overview of the project's achievements:

 Activities: 

  • a Social Enterprise under RDA North, equipped with necessary machinery to collect, press and sell recycled plastic and other recyclable materials, was established to provide work integration for disadvantaged individuals and improved income opportunities to 50 collectors of recyclable materials 

  • the Project supported over 5000 individuals including citizens, private sector and public institutions in South Mitrovicë/a  to contribute to plastic recycling by installing over 400 recycling containers in public institutions, schools, businesses and households 

  • RDA North was supported to manage the Social Enterprise and provide tailored business advisory services (BAS) to SMEs/ SEs in Mitrovicë/a, aimed at supporting start-ups and improving performance of existing businesses
