As part of the Sida-funded project “Support to Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Communities in Mitrovicë/a”, DRC continues to support education in Roma Mahalla.
In October 2016 DRC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the secondary economic school “Hasan Prishtina” in Mitrovicë/a to continue with the secondary school education programme for 7 (2 female and 5 male) youths from Roma Mahalla and Dy Korriku/Sitnicko Naselje.

This scholarship programme builds on the success achieved with similar initiatives in the past. In October 2014, DRC already supported 8 youths from Dy Korriku/Sitnicko Naselje to complete secondary school. They were registered in the secondary economic school “Hasan Prishtina” in Mitrovicë/a South. 75% achieved their educational goal and got equipped with diplomas.

With continued support from Sida, more youths from the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian community will have a chance to finish their education.
