Finance Officer (National position)

Duty station: Pristina (PRN)

 

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for Finance Officer.

OVERAL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Finance and Officer supports the Finance Manager in the implementation of financial procedures and tools developed at HQ or Pristina & Mitrovicë/a level, through coordination and cooperation with all project staff, local authorities, implementing partners and donors. The position is located in the DRC office in Pristina under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

-     Perform daily accounting operations, update, and reconcile all accounting data

-     Prepare annual statement (balance sheets and income statements)

-     Maintain financial records/documentation and an appropriate and efficient financial filing system according to guidelines

-     Carry out the internal financial reviews during the project cycle to ensure that local laws, DRC offices and donor guidelines are correctly implemented.

-     Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth cross-departmental functioning, including regular communication and addressing of issues related to department

-     Support the Finance Manager in internal and external audit process, ensure the implementation of their potential recommendations.

-     As the finance Super-User, responsible for staying an up to date with HQ guidelines of the Dynamics 365 Finance module system set-up and serve as a key point of contact for all other departments on financial and accounting matters.

-     Undertake administrative and finance tasks and any other duties related to the nature of the position as instructed by the Finance Manager or the Country Director

-     Other office related duties:

-     As the IT Focal Point, in charge of implementation of all DRC IT guidelines and serve as the first point of contact for any IT related issues. 

  

ABOUT YOU

Required experience and technical competencies:

·         Minimum 3 years of experience in finance and accounting

·         Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

·         Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills

·         Demonstrate willingness to learn and develop over time

Preferable

·         Minimum 2 years of experience in international development preferred.

·         Work experience as an Accountant and/or Qualification as a Certified Accountant

·         Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics or another enterprise resource planning system

·         Previous experience in auditing.

·         Expertise in IT related skills. 

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

•   University Degree in the field of finance or other relevant area, or equivalent work experience.

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

•   Native-speaking proficiency in Albanian language.

·      Very good command of written and spoken English (minimum B1 level).

WE OFFER

Contract length: three months’ probation period, with the possibility of extension subject to funding

Start date:  estimated by November 2022 – PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF RELEVANT FUNDS

Salary: Starting salary 730 EUR gross amount

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals;
