Project duration: May 2016-September 2019
Project donor: European Union, co-funded by Ministry of Communities and Return

The objective of this project is to assist over 80 displaced and vulnerable families to achieve durable solutions following their exit from collective centres in the Municipality of Štrpce/Shtërpcë, enabling them to improve their living conditions, settle and fully participate in local community life.

In detail, the project aims to achieve three main results, which target housing solutions, improvement of socio-economic conditions and the capacity of the Municipality of Štrpce/Shtërpcë to provide adequate conditions for successful integration of current CC residents and vulnerable individuals in particular.

Housing solutions have been found for displaced and vulnerable families facilitating their exit from collective centres

To accommodate over 80 families from collective centers, DRC is constructing five apartment buildings in Brezovica, Štrpce/Shtërpcë Municipality. Infrastructure projects will also be implemented to connect the buildings to the wider community. In addition, individual houses for 2 IDP families have already been constructed in Štrpce/Shtërpcë and surrounding villages with co-funding from the Ministry of Communities and Return (MCR).

Immediate needs of displaced families are addressed and their ability to access livelihood opportunities has been improved

Livelihoods and income-generation interventions in this project include provision of harmonized packages including food and non-food assistance, and a mix of income generation activities promoting both vocational skills improvements and self-employment.

The Municipality of Štrpce/Shtërpcë has increased capacity to support the sustainable integration of vulnerable families

Three Community Development projects will be implemented to benefit the wider community. In addition, a fund for projects improving services for the most vulnerable groups including the elderly, disabled or chronically ill, will be established.
